YOUR NAILS = HEALTH ISSUES

Nails and Health: Read the Signs
did you know your nails can reveal clues to your overall health? A touch of white here, a rosy tinge there, or some rippling or bumps may be a sign of disease in the body. Problems in the liver, lungs, and heart can show up in your nails. Keep reading to learn what secrets your nails might reveal.

Pale Nails

Very pale nails are sometimes linked to aging. But they can also be a sign of serious illness, such as:
• Anemia
• Congestive heart failure
• Diabetes
• Liver disease
• Malnutrition

White Nails
If the nails are mostly white with darker rims, this can indicate liver problems, such as hepatitis. In this image, you can see the fingers are also jaundiced, another sign of liver trouble.

Yellow Nails
One of the most common causes of yellow nails is a fungal infection. As the infection worsens, the nail bed may retract, and nails may thicken and crumble. In rare cases, yellow nails can indicate a more serious condition such as severe thyroid disease or psoriasis.

Bluish Nails
Nails with a bluish tint can mean the body isn’t getting enough oxygen. This could indicate an infection in the lungs, such as pneumonia.

Rippled Nails
If the nail surface is rippled or pitted, this may be an early sign of psoriasis or inflammatory arthritis. Psoriasis is a skin condition that starts in the nails 10% of the time.

Cracked or Split Nails
Dry, brittle nails that frequently crack or split have been linked to thyroid disease. Cracking or splitting combined with a yellowish hue is more likely due to a fungal infection.

Puffy Nail Fold
If the skin around the nail appears red and puffy, this is known as inflammation of the nail fold. It may be the result of lupus or another connective tissue disorder.

Dark Lines Beneath the Nail
Dark lines beneath the nail should be investigated as soon as possible. They are sometimes caused by melanoma, the most dangerous type of skin cancer.

Gnawed Nails
biting your nails may be nothing more than an old habit, but in some cases it’s a sign of persistent anxiety that could benefit from treatment. Nail biting or picking has also been linked to obsessive-compulsive disorder. If you can’t stop, it’s worth discussing with your doctor.

Nails Are Only Part of the Puzzle
though nail changes accompany many conditions; these changes are rarely the first sign. And many nail abnormalities are harmless -- not everyone with white nails has hepatitis. If you’re concerned about the appearance of your nails, see a dermatologist.

Anna cancervive!!

So hard to accept but my sister/assistant/friend Anna is on the battle against Cancer. Her family and her friends are there to support her. And we know Anna is strong enough to fight it.

Today is her 29th birthday. She is not asking for any gift but prayer (Sabi nga nya wag na rosary and prayer books ksi ang dami na nya nun hehehe). She might be strong and tough but like any other individuals, she also needs help. Her family and her friends need her. And she is too young to give it up. And in behalf of Anna, we are asking everyone to please have a little time to ask God for her healing. A few minutes a day is enough to convince God, Anna has to stay.

And as her friends, although she is not requesting anything from us... we are asking you to please help and support her by sharing your blessings. We are selling BALLER IDs tagged "i-cancervive". For a price of Php100.00, you can be a part of her battle against Cancer. The proceeds will be used for her chemotherapy and other medical procedures. Ask your friends and mates to support Anna by wearing these Baller ID bands.

For Your Orders, you may contact:
Name: Mitch Canimo
YM id: mitchcanimo
Email: rmitchel_26@yahoo.com
Cellphone number: +639212654877

Please be a great help to others.

And Anna.. we will all fight this battle for you, so stay strong... We love you girl...

Laslas Bag

Just last monday nangyari ito sa akin. I was on the way pauwi ng bahay. I was on a jeepney, nsa may dulo malapit sa babaan, para sbi ko madali lng pag baba ko. There were passengers na sumakay sa jeep sa bandang Stop & Shop (sa may tapat na PUP Sta. Mesa, Manila).

Mejo nagalaw ung aking bag, so inayos ko. Tiningnan ko din ung matandang lalaki at yong kanyang bag, inayos din ung bag nya.. Then, malapit na ako sa amin, so I got ready na pag baba. Saktong lumiko ung jeep papasok ng Masangkay, so sbi ko dun na lng ako sa kanto paliko pa Divisoria bababa... And then, bumaba na ako ksi liliko na sya pa-Divisoria, eh diretso ako sa Masangkay.

Pag baba ko, what I saw was... Ung shoulder bag ko may punit. Nag isip ako kung paano nman sya mapupunit eh di naman un nasagi man lng sa bakal or sa ano mang matulis na bagay sa may jeep. Ininspect ko ung hiwa, may format. AYun! Naisip ko, ung matandang lalaki na lumipat sa tabi ko ung gumawa nun (as if naman ung kolehiyala eh super busy sa cellphone, suklay, mirror at hair nya un) I checked agad ung cellphone, wallet and most importantly, ung aking iPod Touch!!!! Thank GOD lahat andun and wlang nakuha ni isa ung lokong un!

I texted agad ung aking baby and immediately informed him of what happened.

Ayaw ko na dalhin itong mga gadgets ko because it will cause more danger in my life. Halos maiyak ako pag dating sa bahay ksi iniisip ko what if tinututukan na pala ako sa may tagiliran ko or di naman, tagiliran ko na ung nilalaslas nya waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Thank GOD I'm safe! Thank you soo much BRO! Sobrang mag-iingat at magiging alert na ako ngayon! I don't want that to happen again. Be alert at all times guys!

Why wedding ring should be put on the fourth finger?

Really interesting...

Why wedding ring
should be put on the fourth finger??

Please read the following, you may not believe that really god made this a miracle (this is from a Chinese excerpt) but still interesting!

Firstly, join your palms as shown in photo below -- center finger bend and put together back to back

Secondly, let the rest of the 4 fingers touch tips to tip.

Game begins! Follow the instructions below for all the 5 fingers but only 1 pair can split.

Try to open your thumb. The thumb represents parents -- it can be opened because whatever may be, our parents will leave us one day.

Please close up your thumb. Then open your second finger. This finger represents brothers and sisters -- they do have their own family which is the reason that they will leave us too. Now close up your second finger.

Open up your little finger. This represents your children -- sooner or later they too will leave us for they got they own living to live nevertheless. Close up your little finger.

Try to open your fourth finger in which we put our wedding ring -- you will be surprised to find that it cannot be opened at all. Because it represents husband and wife. This whole life you will be attached to each other

So, in summary:

Thumb represents parents
Second finger represents brothers & sisters
Center finger represents
ourself
Fourth finger represents your partner
Last finger represents your children

Real love will stick together ever and forever. .

-- got this on my email, and just sharing with you folks!

OC - TVS

Oh my God, I have one!!

Well, I started to learn na meron ako nito last July 17 when my OB-Gyne doctor performed a Transvaginal Ultrasound.

A week before that, sobra na takot at kaba ko dahil bakit wala pa rin ung monthly period ko. I was supposed to have one na pero wala pa rin. Hindi naman ako buntis (talagang in-insit hahahaha). Naghintay pa ako ng 1-week kasi ang normal cycle is 28 days and ako, alam ko is nsa 21 cycle lang ako so I know exactly kung kelan ako dadatnan. 1 week later wala pa rin. So I decided to check with a doctor.

That's July 15, pumunta ako sa doctor. She asked me some personal questions. After that, sabi nya "I-pa-paps mear muna kita ha" Hala! Paps Mear?! hahaha nagtaka ako kung paano un. Then she laid me on the bed then she performed na ung procedure hehehe.. (Masakit pala hahahahaha). After that, binigay sakin ung sample na kinuha sakin and then pinabibigay sakin sa Laboratory then she requested me na ipa-approve ung request to undergo a TransVaginal Ultrasound and balik ako ng Friday for that pagkatapos ma approve ng HMO namin.

Kunot noo sya habang nag u-ultrasound doon, ako nman kabado hehehe... Tpos bglang sbi "AHA! kaya pala!" Pinakita sakin ung nakita nya sa monitor. Un pala, I have an ovarian cyst na. Almost 3cm na. It's benign nman If bumalik na ulit ung regular period ko, mawawala na daw un. Regular check-up lang. Un daw ung nagko-cause kung bakit di pa ako dinadatnan ngayon.

So she gave me reseta ng gamot na iinumin ko for 5-days.

And now, tapos na ako ng 5-days na inuman ng gamot. Still wla pa rin. Until kelan kaya ako maghihintay sa aking period hehehehe

PRAYER

Heavenly Father,
I call on you right now in a special way,
It was through your power that i was created
Every breath i take...
Every morning i wake...
And every moment of every hour.
I live under your power.

Father, I ask you now to touch me with that same power
For if you created me from nothing
you can certainly recreate me

Fill me with the healing power of your spirit
Cast out anything that should not be in me
Mend what is broken

Rot out any unproductive cells
Open any blocked arteries or veins
And rebuild any damaged areas
Remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection

Let the warmth of your healing love
Pass through my body and make new any unhealthy areas
So that my body will function the way you
Created it to function

And father restore me to full
Health in mind and body
So that i may serve you for the rest of my life

I ask this through the intercession of Mama Mary and you son
Jesus Christ, Our lord, AMEN

--- LORD, this is the prayer of my loving friend, assistant @ work, sister. I'm begging you to hear her and heal everything to her. I believe in you. Please keep her safe and healthy.

How to Improve Your Memory & Exercise Your Brain

Everyone can take steps to improve their memory; with time and practice most people can gain the ability to memorize seemingly impossible amounts of information. Whether you want to win the World Memory Championships, ace your history test, or simply remember where you put your keys, this article can get you started. Scientists believe that exercising your brain can create a `cognitive reserve' that will help you stay sharp as you age.

1. Convince yourself that you do have a good memory that will improve. Too many people get stuck here and convince themselves that their memory is bad, that they are just not good with names, that numbers just slip out of their minds for some reason. Erase those thoughts and vow to improve your memory. Commit yourself to the task and bask in your achievements — it's hard to keep motivated if you beat yourself down every time you make a little bit of progress.

2. Keep your brain active. The brain is not a muscle, but regularly "exercising" the brain actually does keep it growing and spurs the development of new nerve connections that can help improve memory. By developing new mental skills—especially complex ones such as learning a new language or learning to play a new musical instrument—and challenging your brain with puzzles and games you can keep your brain active and improve its physiological functioning.

3. Exercise daily. Regular aerobic exercise improves circulation and efficiency throughout the body, including in the brain, and can help ward off the memory loss that comes with aging. Exercise also makes you more alert and relaxed, and can thereby improve your memory uptake, allowing you to take better mental "pictures."

4. Reduce stress. Chronic stress, although it does not physically damage the brain, can make remembering much more difficult. Even temporary stresses can make it more difficult to effectively focus on concepts and observe things. Try to relax, regularly practice yoga or other stretching exercises, and see a doctor if you have severe chronic stress.

5.. Eat well and eat right. There are a lot of herbal supplements on the market that claim to improve memory, but none have yet been shown to be effective in clinical tests (although small studies have shown some promising results for ginkgo biloba and phosphatidylserine) . A healthy diet, however, contributes to a healthy brain, and foods containing antioxidants— broccoli, blueberries, spinach, and berries, for example—and Omega-3 fatty acids appear to promote healthy brain functioning. Feed your brain with such supplements as Thiamine, Vitamin E, Niacin and Vitamin B-6. Grazing, eating 5 or 6 small meals throughout the day instead of 3 large meals, also seems to improve mental functioning (including memory) by limiting dips in blood sugar, which may negatively affect the brain.

6. Take better pictures. Often we forget things not because our memory is bad, but rather because our observational skills need work. One common situation where this occurs (and which almost everyone can relate to) is meeting new people. Often we don't really learn people's names at first because we aren't really concentrating on remembering them. You'll find that if you make a conscious effort to remember such things, you'll do much better. One way to train yourself to be more observant is to look at an unfamiliar photograph for a few seconds and then turn the photograph over and describe or write down as many details as you can about the photograph. Try closing your eyes and picturing the photo in your mind. Use a new photograph each time you try this exercise, and with regular practice you will find you're able to remember more details with even shorter glimpses of the photos.

7. Give yourself time to form a memory. Memories are very fragile in the short-term, and distractions can make you quickly forget something as simple as a phone number. The key to avoid losing memories before you can even form them is to be able to focus on the thing to be remembered for a while without thinking about other things, so when you're trying to remember something, avoid distractions and complicated tasks for a few minutes.

8.. Create vivid, memorable images. You remember information more easily if you can visualize it. If you want to associate a child with a book, try not to visualize the child reading the book – that's too simple and forgettable. Instead, come up with something more jarring, something that sticks, like the book chasing the child, or the child eating the book. It's your mind – make the images as shocking and emotional as possible to keep the associations strong.

9. Repeat things you need to learn. The more times you hear, see, or think about something, the more surely you'll remember it, right? It's a no-brainer. When you want to remember something, be it your new coworker's name or your best friend's birthday, repeat it, either out loud or silently. Try writing it down; think about it.

10. Group things you need to remember. Random lists of things (a shopping list, for example) can be especially difficult to remember. To make it easier, try categorizing the individual things from the list. If you can remember that, among other things, you wanted to buy four different kinds of vegetables, you'll find it easier to remember all four.

11. Organize your life. Keep items that you frequently need, such as keys and eyeglasses, in the same place every time. Use an electronic organizer or daily planner to keep track of appointments, due dates for bills, and other tasks. Keep phone numbers and addresses in an address book or enter them into your computer or cell phone. Improved organization can help free up your powers of concentration so that you can remember less routine things. Even if being organized doesn't improve your memory, you'll receive a lot of the same benefits (i.e. you won't have to search for your keys anymore).

12. Try meditation. Research now suggests that people who regularly practice "mindfulness" meditation are able to focus better and may have better memories. Mindfulness (also known as awareness or insight meditation) is the type commonly practiced in Western countries and is easy to learn. Studies at Massachusetts General Hospital show that regular meditation thickens the cerebral cortex in the brain by increasing the blood flow to that region. Some researchers believe this can enhance attention span, focus, and memory.

13. Sleep well. The amount of sleep we get affects the brain's ability to recall recently learned information. Getting a good night's sleep – a minimum of seven hours a night – may improve your short-term memory and long-term relational memory, according to recent studies conducted at the Harvard Medical School.

14. Build your memorization arsenal. Learn pegs, memory palaces, and the Dominic System. These techniques form the foundation for mnemonic techniques, and will visibly improve your memory.

15. Venture out and learn from your mistakes. Go ahead and take a stab at memorizing the first one hundred digits of pi, or, if you've done that already, the first one thousand. Memorize the monarchs of England through your memory palaces, or your grocery list through visualization. Through diligent effort you will eventually master theart of memorization.

still remember me? : -(
for the past month, you were soo busy, no more time with me, yet you're finding ways for us to be together and spend time with each other.
weeks ago, feeling ko solo na lng ako :( i went to the grocery store all by myself, unlike before that we used to do it together. That's the time I realized that not all the time we can be together or do things we used to do together before. May times na ako na lng mag-isa ang gagawa.

Night came, of course, pagod ka na for your whole day activities. Hindi na kita makausap gaya ng dati.

Different uses of Salt

We're using SALT when cooking, pero alam nyo ba na merong iba't-ibang gamit pa ang asin? hmmm find it out here:

Although you may not realize it, simple table salt has a great number of uses other than simply seasoning your food. The following list will give you sixty uses of salt, many of which you probably didn't realize
1. Soak stained hankies in salt water before washing.
2. Sprinkle salt on your shelves to keep ants away.
3. Soak fish in salt water before descaling; the scales will come off easier.
4. Put a few grains of rice in your salt shaker for easier pouring.
5. Add salt to green salads to prevent wilting..
6. Test the freshness of eggs in a cup of salt water; fresh eggs sink; bad ones float.
7. Add a little salt to your boiling water when cooking eggs; a cracked egg will stay in its shell this way.
8. A tiny pinch of salt with egg whites makes them beat up fluffier.
9. Soak wrinkled apples in a mildly salted water solution to perk them up.
10. Rub salt on your pancake griddle and your flapjacks won't stick.
11. Soak toothbrushes in salt water before you first use them; they will last longer.
12. Use salt to clean your discolored coffee pot.
13. Mix salt with turpentine to whiten you bathtub and toilet bowl.
14. Soak your nuts in salt brine overnight and they will crack out of their shells whole. Just tap the end of the shell with a hammer to break it open easily.
15. Boil clothespins in salt water before using them and they will last longer.
16. Clean brass, copper and pewter with paste made of salt and vinegar, thickened with flour
17. Add a little salt to the water your cut flowers will stand in for a longer life.
18. Pour a mound of salt on an ink spot on your carpet; let the salt soak up the stain.
19. Clean your iron by rubbing some salt on the damp cloth on the ironing surface.
20. Adding a little salt to the water when cooking foods in a double boiler will make the food cook faster.

10 Deadly Sins of Negative Thinking

The way to overcome negative thoughts and destructive emotions is to develop opposing, positive emotions that are stronger and more powerful. - Dalai Lama

Life could be so much better for many people, if they would just spot their negative thinking habits and replace them with positive ones.

Negative thinking, in all its many-splendored forms, has a way of creeping into conversations and our thinking without our noticing them. The key to success, in my humble opinion, is learning to spot these thoughts and squash them like little bugs. Then replace them with positive ones. You'll notice a huge difference in everything you do.

Let's take a look at 10 common ways that negative thinking emerges get good at spotting these patterns, and practice replacing them with positive thinking patterns. It has made all the difference in the world for me.
10 Deadly Sins of Negative Thinking

1. I will be happy once I have _____ (or once I earn X).

Problem: If you think you can't be happy until you reach a certain point, or until you reach a certain income, or have a certain type of house or car or computer setup, you'll never be happy. That elusive goal is always just out of reach. Once we reach those goals, we are not satisfied we want more.

Solution: Learn to be happy with what you have, where you are, and who you are, right at this moment. Happiness doesn't have to be some state that we want to get to eventually it can be found right now. Learn to count your blessings, and see the positive in your situation. This might sound simplistic, but it works.

2. I wish I were as ____ as (a celebrity, friend, co-worker).

Problem: We'll never be as pretty, as talented, as rich, as sculpted, as cool, as everyone else. There will always be someone better, if you look hard enough. Therefore, if we compare ourselves to others like this, we will always pale, and will always fail, and will always feel bad about ourselves. This is no way to be happy.

Solution: Stop comparing yourself to others, and look instead at yourself what are your strengths, your accomplishments, your successes, however small? What do you love about yourself? Learn to love who you are, right now, not who you want to become. There is good in each of us, love in each of us, and a wonderful human spirit in every one of us.

3. Seeing others becoming successful makes me jealous and resentful.

Problem: First, this assumes that only a small number of people can be successful. In truth, many, many people can be successful in different ways.

Solution: Learn to admire the success of others, and learn from it, and be happy for them, by empathizing with them and understanding what it must be like to be them. And then turn away from them, and look at yourself you can be successful too, in whatever you choose to do. And even more, you already are successful. Look not at those above you in the social ladder, but those below you there are always millions of people worse off than you, people who couldn't even read this article or afford a computer. In that light, you are a huge success.

4. I am a miserable failure I can't seem to do anything right.

Problem: Everyone is a failure, if you look at it in certain ways. Everyone has failed, many times, at different things. I have certainly failed so many times I cannot count them and I continue to fail, daily. However, looking at your failures as failures only makes you feel bad about yourself. By thinking in this way, we will have a negative self-image and never move on from here.

Solution: See your successes and ignore your failures. Look back on your life, in the last month, or year, or 5 years. And try to remember your successes. If you have trouble with this, start documenting them keep a success journal, either in a notebook or online. Document your success each day, or each week. When you look back at what you've accomplished, over a year, you will be amazed. It's an incredibly positive feeling.

5. I'm going to beat so-and-so no matter what I'm better than him. And there's no way I'll help him succeed he might beat me.

Problem: Competitiveness assumes that there is a small amount of gold to be had, and I need to get it before he does. It makes us into greedy, back-stabbing, hurtful people. We try to claw our way over people to get to success, because of our competitive feelings. For example, if a blogger wants to have more subscribers than another blogger, he may never link to or mention that other blogger. However, who is to say that my subscribers can't also be yours? People can read and subscribe to more than one blog.

Solution: Learn to see success as something that can be shared, and learn that if we help each other out, we can each have a better chance to be successful. Two people working towards a common goal are better than two people trying to beat each other up to get to that goal. There is more than enough success to go around. Learn to think in terms of abundance rather than scarcity.

6. Dammit! Why do these bad things always happen to me?

Problem: Bad things happen to everybody. If we dwell on them, they will frustrate us and bring us down.

Solution: See bad things as a part of the ebb and flow of life. Suffering is a part of the human condition but it passes. All pain goes away, eventually. Meanwhile, don't let it hold you back. Don't dwell on bad things, but look forward towards something good in your future. And learn to take the bad things in stride, and learn from them. Bad things are actually opportunities to grow and learn and get stronger, in disguise.

7. You can't do anything right! Why can't you be like ____ ?

Problem: This can be said to your child or your subordinate or your sibling. The problem? Comparing two people, first of all, is always a fallacy. People are different, with different ways of doing things, different strengths and weaknesses, different human characteristics. If we were all the same, we'd be robots. Second, saying negative things like this to another person never helps the situation. It might make you feel better, and more powerful, but in truth, it hurts your relationship, it will actually make you feel negative, and it will certainly make the other person feel negative and more likely to continue negative behavior. Everyone loses.

Solution: Take the mistakes or bad behavior of others as an opportunity to teach. Show them how to do something. Second, praise them for their positive behavior, and encourage their success. Last, and most important, love them for who they are, and celebrate their differences.

8. Your work sucks. It's super lame. You are a moron and I hope you never reproduce.

Problem: I've actually gotten this comment before. It feels wonderful. However, let's look at it not from the perspective of the person receiving this kind of comment but from the perspective of the person giving it. How does saying something negative like this help you? I guess it might feel good to vent if you feel like your time has been wasted. But really, how much of your time has been wasted? A few minutes? And whose fault is that? The bloggers or yours? In truth, making negative comments just keeps you in a negative mindset. It's also not a good way to make friends.

Solution: Learn to offer constructive solutions, first of all. Instead of telling someone their blog sucks, or that a post is lame, offer some specific suggestions for improvement. Help them get better. If you are going to take the time to make a comment, make it worth your time. Second, learn to interact with people in a more positive way it makes others feel good and it makes you feel better about yourself. And you can make some great friends this way. That's a good thing.

9. Insulting People Back

Problem: If someone insults you or angers you in some way, insulting them back and continuing your anger only transfers their problem to you. This person was probably having a bad day (or a bad year) and took it out on you for some reason. If you reciprocate, you are now having a bad day too. His problem has become yours. Not only that, but the cycle of insults can get worse and worse until it results in violence or other negative consequences for both of you.

Solution: Let the insults or negative comments of others slide off you like Teflon. Don't let their problem become yours. In fact, try to understand their problem more why would someone say something like that? What problems are they going through? Having a little empathy for someone not only makes you understand that their comment is not about you, but it can make you feel and act in a positive manner towards them and make you feel better about yourself in the process.

10. I don't think I can do this I don't have enough discipline. Maybe some other time.

Problem: If you don't think you can do something, you probably won't. Especially for the big stuff. Discipline has nothing to do with it motivation and focus has everything to do with it. And if you put stuff off for “some other time”, you'll never get it done. Negative thinking like this inhibits us from accomplishing anything.

Solution: Turn your thinking around: you can do this! You don't need discipline. Find ways to make yourself a success at your goal. If you fail, learn from your mistakes, and try again. Instead of putting a goal off for later, start now. And focus on one goal at a time, putting all of your energy into it, and getting as much help from others as you can. You can really move mountains if you start with positive thinking.
